MQHYA February 2022 News

Hello everyone! I know that it is hard to believe, but it is already February and the Missouri Quarter Horse Youth Association is off to a great start! We had quite a few of our members attend our annual youth meeting last month. There were lots of great ideas shared and participation in our elections was awesome! It is with pleasure and excitement that I announce your new 2022 MQHYA Officer and Director Team:

President: Abby Eddy
Vice-President: Hunter Skouby
Reporter: Hazel Myles
Executive Director - Social Chair: Avery Bergan
Executive Director - Membership Chair: Ellistin Morey
Directors at Large: Melaney Abercrombie, Paige Brown, Addison Hinton, CJ Kirkland, Cooper Skouby, Jocelyn Timmermeyer, Bayleigh Wood, and Elleigh Wood

MQHYA has a lot coming ahead, so please be sure to read through all this newsletter!

MQHA The Maple Leaf
March 24-27, 2022 | National Equestrian Center, Lake St. Louis

We will host a yoga session for our main fundraiser at this show! Ms. Kim Hibdon has generously agreed to lead this session. Details for this are below. In addition to this, we will continue to sell MQHA and MQHYA apparel (we have limited apparel items left.) However, we have ordered MQHA travel tumblers and mugs to sell! If you are planning to attend The Maple Leaf, we need YOUR help! We want to make sure that there are a few members sitting at our youth table each day. This will also be when we start selling raffle tickets for a free stall at The Gateway Classic!

Details for Yoga Challenge:

- Led by Ms. Kim Hibdon

- Friday morning before the show (time TBA)

- Nominate a person to participate for $10

- Nominated people can buy out for $20 (up to two times)

- If the nominee doesn’t show up, they owe MQHYA $30

*MQHYA Vice-President, Hunter Skouby is heading this up, so if you have additional ideas for this fundraiser, please reach out to Hunter!

Each year MQHYA forms teams of members to compete at the AQHYA World Championship Show AND National Youth Activity Team Tournament (NYATT) at The Congress. It’s time to start thinking about if this is something that might interest you! You must file a Letter of Intent with MQHYA before your MQHA points count towards qualifying. You can find the 2022 Letter of Intent form attached. Please contact Youth Advisor, Cara Harmon with questions!

Finally, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Abby Eddy, and I am excited to serve as your 2022 MQHYA President. I am 15 years old, live in Rocheport, Missouri, and am currently a sophomore at Hickman High School in Columbia. With lots of fundraising ideas, team bonding, and increased youth involvement, I believe this year is going to be one of our best yet! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. I am always looking for new ideas on how to make MQHYA that much better!

Sincerely,

Abby Eddy
