Where are you from? Wildwood, MO
How long have you been showing horses? I have been showing for 26 years
What is your favorite horse show? Roan World Championship Show
Tell us about your family. I have an awesome family! I have my wonderful parents, an older sister and brother-in-law who have a 1-year-old daughter. I also have a younger brother and sister-in-law who also have a 1-year-old son.
How did you get hooked on horses? Since day one. Literally, my first word was “hehe”. When we drove past horses and I pointed at them, my parents knew from the start I was going to be a horse lover.
What is it about horses that makes you want to work with them and compete? They are beautiful, athletic creatures that are just so smart and forgiving. It’s such a gift to be able to be a part of a horse’s journey.
What would you tell your younger self (in relation to showing)? Keep going. Even when things don’t go right just keep your chin up and keep working towards your goals.
What horse(s) and event(s) are you currently showing? I’m showing my gelding “My Vitals Rock” aka Karat. We are currently showing in the Novice Amateur division in western pleasure, horsemanship and showmanship.
What are your goals? To compete at the Novice Championship Show next year.
Who do you look up to in the industry? My barn family who has been doing this way longer than I have. They are so knowledgeable and such an awesome cheering section!
If you are not at a horse show, what would we find you doing? In the summer, you can find me at a pool!
Do you have another job…besides taking care of your horses? Yes, I work for a large animal feed company as their Regulatory Compliance Manager.
What is your favorite thing about MQHA? All the fun activities that are planned at each horse show.
What is your favorite hobby besides showing horses? I love to paint
What is your favorite food? Steak with mushrooms
What is your favorite restaurant? Hawthorne Inn
What is your favorite movie? Jaws! Classic
What is your favorite quote? Cowgirl up
What is your dream vacation? Fiji
What are you terrible at but love to do anyway? Singing
What is one thing on your bucket list? Go to Fiji and lay on a beach
Tell us something most people don’t know about you? I’m tall but hate heights!
One piece of advice you would like to share with exhibitors who are just getting started? It’s hard work but so incredibly rewarding so keep going even when things don’t go right.
