MQHYA Member Spotlight: Grayson Stout

This month, MQHYA is shining our spotlight on Grayson Stout, an eight-year-old horseman from Joplin, Missouri.

Grayson shows CH JUSTALILRUF, a gelding affectionately called “Sambo”, in the showmanship, horsemanship, western pleasure, and the trail. Grayson shared that his favorite class to compete in is horsemanship because he thoroughly enjoys the trotting portion of his riding patterns, remarking that “they are really fun”.

Grayson does not just appreciate the competitive aspect of MQHYA. When asked what makes our organization special to him, he answered that MQHYA brings people together, and provides opportunities to meet new friends. Ultimately, this is something that many of our members cherish.

Finally, it goes without saying that we could all learn something from the courage and determination that define our youngest youth. However, Grayson has an especially admirable perspective on what it means to be a horseman. He was asked what he would say to someone who is just beginning their career within the equine industry, and he answered that “on the tough days, you learn the most”.  This remarkable statement serves to characterize the grit that distinguishes the future of the equine industry.

Grayson, thank you for being willing to be the subject of our April Spotlight! Good luck throughout the rest of the show season! As always, MQHYA will be rooting for you.
