WHERE ARE YOU FROM? – Omaha, Nebraska

TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAMILY- My wife Patty and I have been married for almost 22 years. I have two daughters, Lindsay (31) and Paige (18)

WHAT GOT YOU INVOLVED IN HORSES AND FOR HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED? – Patty’s father Walt Carey was a Saddlebred trainer back in the day.  We bought Paige her first horse (Doc) when she was 6 years old, and the rest is history.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CLASS TO SHOW IN OR WATCH? I enjoy watching Trail when Patty or Paige are showing in the class.

DESCRIBE YOUR BEST HORSE SHOW MEMORY- I will never forget our first time at the All American Quarter Horse Congress.  Paige was the Reserve All Around High Point in the 11 & under and a Reserve Congress Champion in Trail.  I also have great memories in Sedalia, Missouri when Paige showed at the State 4H/FFA horse shows there.

WHAT ENERGIZES YOU AND DRAINS YOU AT HORSE SHOWS?  I am energized when someone from our horse show family does well in their class.  I’m rarely drained…kinda like the Energizer Bunny.

WHO IS YOUR ALL-TIME FAVORITE HORSE?  Paige’s show mare “Good To Be Sudden” (Roanie)

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT MQHA? The fun, family atmosphere at our shows. I also enjoy how much fun our Annual Conventions are.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO WHEN YOU ARE NOT AT A HORSE SHOW?  Catch up on work around our property.  Anything that involves making a list and feeling accomplished when everything on the list is complete.

WHAT IS YOUR REAL JOB, OUTSIDE OF MQHAI am a Real Estate Professional.  My job is anything related to providing real estate services, i.e. property management, construction management, leasing, sales.  I am a licensed real estate agent in Missouri and Kansas.

ARE YOU A MORNING PERSON OR NIGHT OWL?  I have always been a morning person since my childhood.  When I was in the United State Army, they reinforced that quality in me LOL!

DO YOU USUALLY ARRIVE EARLY OR LATE?  I have a saying, “being early is on time and being on time is late” Nothing further.

ON FRIDAY NIGHT…WOULD YOU RATHER GO OUT OR STAY IN?  Friday night is usually the only night that Patty and I go out for dinner.  Horses, dogs, cats and a rabbit are always fed first except on Friday night.

IF YOU COULD HAVE ONE SUPERPOWER, WHAT WOULD IT BE?  To heal the sick and terminally ill

WHAT IS YOUR PROCESS FOR TURNING A BAD DAY INTO A GOOD ONE? I take bad situations one step at a time.  I also remind myself that no matter how bad things are going for me, someone in this world has it much worse than I do.

IF YOU WERE TO WRITE A MEMOIR ABOUT YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD YOU TITLE IT? The Life and Times of Bad Brad the Show Dad.  I have often thought about starring in a reality TV show called Show Dad’s.

TELL A FACT THAT MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU?  I lived in Gelnhausen, West Germany for 2 years while I served in the Army overseas.  My one and only time snow skiing was on the Austrian Alps.

SHARE THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE ANYONE HAS EVER GIVEN YOU- Try to live your life to the fullest because you never know when it will end.

WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU WERE YOUNGER? A motocross racer

DO YOU HAVE ANY HIDDEN TALENTS?  I am a Kermit the Frog impersonator.

NAME ONE THING ON YOUR BUCKET LIST?  Go on a Band of Brothers Tour in Normandy, France and beyond.

LAST MOVIE YOU SAW?  In the movie theatre it was “House of Gucci”

LAST BOOK YOU READ?  Hunting Eichman; however, reading puts me to sleep so it is hard for me to finish a book.

FAVORITE SERIES YOU BINGE WATCHED?  Yellowstone.  Currently I am binge watching Ozark on Netflix.

WOULD YOU EVER GO ON A REALITY SHOW?  IF SO, WHICH ONE?  Sure.  Probably the Price is Right.

FAVORITE SPORT TO WATCH?  Football

FAVORITE TEAM?  Nebraska Cornhusker Football

FAVORITE RESTAURANT? Ranch Grande Cantina

FAVORITE FOOD? TACO’s!!

ANYTHING ADDITIONAL YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE?  A couple of things:

Our passion for all things horses persuaded us to own and enjoy 2 Clydesdale horses at our farm.

I spent 4 years in the United States Army and 10 years in the Army National Guard as an Armor Crewman cruising around inside M1 Abrams tanks.
