MQHYA Member Spotlight: Sydney Feager

The sun is not the only one bringing the heat lately… Sydney Feager of St. Louis, MO has been setting the show pen on fire with her gelding, Stedman (For Your Protection).

Sydney just concluded her time at the Redbud Spectacular where she placed in the top five of the L1 and L2 equitation, L1 horsemanship, and L2 showmanship. Sydney also won the L1 horsemanship and the showmanship jackpot. At the Gateway Classic, she was the High Point L1 Youth and Circuit Champion in the L1 and rookie horsemanship, the L1 equitation, and the youth 14-18 horsemanship. This list of accomplishments continues with Sydney earning her spot in the L1 14-18 hunt seat equitation at the Level 1 Nutrena Eastern Championships.

While Sydney competes in a variety of classes, her favorite is the horsemanship due to the fact that “it is completely based on the rider and how they can maneuver their horse… through a pattern”. Sydney believes that this discipline exhibits “a true horseman”.

This phenomenal equestrian does not exclusively value MQHYA for the competitive opportunity that it provides, but also because of the lifelong friendships that are fostered through membership.

Sydney encourages youth to become “as involved as possible” in their association and to make connections. She was sure to point out that in order to maximize success, you “have to have your heart in it”.

MQHYA is proud to have Sydney as a member and we are looking forward to her achievements throughout the remainder of this show season.
