MQHYA June 2025 News

Hey everyone! The weather isn’t the only thing that is heating up; the show season is too! With the biggest events of the year right around the corner, be sure to read through this newsletter to stay in the know!

Corporate Challenge Pancake Breakfast: Corporate Challenge is July 9-13 in Lake St. Louis. We are hosting a joint fundraiser with Minnesota Youth. We are planning a pancake breakfast on Friday July 11th from 7-9 AM. Please let me or Leslie know if you would be available to help during any part of this time frame.

Youth labor Auction: Please remember to text or email youth advisor Leslie Skouby once you have completed your working hours. If you need help getting in contact with the person that purchased you, please let Leslie or myself know.

DOOLITTLE TRAILER RAFFLE: Doolittle Trailer MFG. Has generously donated a 77 X 14, 7,000LB tandem axle utility trailer for us to raffle. We got a good start on selling raffle tickets at the Maple Leaf show. We hope that each youth is working on selling tickets in your communities at home. We will draw for the Trailer raffle winner at the MQHA Charities Fall Festival show Nov 1-2, 2025. Tickets are $20/each or 6 for $100. Please reach out to youth advisor Leslie Skouby if you would like more tickets to sell.

Youth Excellence Seminar: Join us at the 2025 Bank of America Youth Excellence Seminar (YES) July 8-10 in Amarillo, Texas! YES registration is still up and ready for you to register. AQHYA has provided us with a discount code (waving the late fee) for anyone who would still like to register! That code is SAVE30. If you are planning to attend YES, this is the last call, as we are going to finalize our team travel plans very soon. If you are at all interested in attending, let Youth Advisor, Leslie Skouby know asap! It is such a life-changing experience, so I encourage all to go if your summer allows for it. Missouri has one member running for a leadership position: Ansley Mings is running for Region 3 Director positions. Abby Eddy will be retiring as the AQHYA President and Addision Hinton retiring as a Region 3 Director.

AQHYA Youth World Championship Show: Leslie sent the official entry email to everyone we have a 2025 Letter of Intent for. This is the only way you will receive the entry link. If you did not receive the email and plan to show at the Youth World this summer, please contact Leslie asap. The entry deadline is July 1. We are starting to plan stall decorations, etc.  Reach out to myself or Leslie if you would like to help or have any ideas! Don’t forget about the other opportunities to get involved at Youth World. AQHYA hosts speech competitions, art contests, boot and jean decorating contests, and more! See all contest opportunities and information here https://www.aqha.com/aqhya-world-championship-show-contests. Contact Leslie asap if you are interested in competing in a contest at the Youth World, as they are due July 1, and she will be submitting all Team Missouri entries together. MQHYA sponsors the cost of all contest entries for members. These contests are so much fun and a great way to make the most of your Youth World experience!

NYATT Team: NYATT Entries are due August 25th.  NYATT Ranch Riding and Reining will be held on Saturday October 4th.  NYATT Showmanship, Horsemanship, Equitation, Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle, and barrel Racing will be held Sunday October 19th. Be sure to send in your Letter of Intent for NYATT and let Leslie know if you would like to be on the NYATT team.

Sponsorship: It is important that we are looking for sponsorships for YES and our Youth World and Congress NYATT teams. The money that is raised is used to pay for team expenses. This in turn helps you! Money that we raise helps pay for things at the Youth World, YES, prizes for our NYATT team, and much more!

It is a fantastic year for MQHYA! It is never too late to get involved. Through various fundraisers and events, we can always use volunteers! Always feel free to contact Cara or myself if you have any questions, ideas, or concerns!

Sincerely,
